Big Bend Comic Con will be held November 5th, 2016 1-5pm at Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library (Entrance 3) on the Sul Ross State University campus. Special con activities for superheros 12 and under at Alpine Public Library, 805 W. Ave. E!


We have a super line-up of vendors and artists this year! Check them out! They will be located on the first floor in the library’s commons area.

Amanda Almaraz
Amanda Almaraz is selling handmade bath bombs, custom leather cords, and ribbon and chain-mail jewelry.

Brandon Apodaca
Brandon Apodaca is showing his artwork, and more can be seen by following @brandonart_917 on Instagram.

Danielle Anderson, of Athene Creations
Selling a wide range of unique designs, including aprons, skirts, bags, and stuffed characters.

Eva Maria Calderon
West Texas artist focusing on painting with acrylics and watercolor mediums.

Scott Cupp
A bookseller, writer, and editor of Texas Conventions for 40+ years.

Front Street Books
An independent bookstore in Alpine that carries new, used, and out-of-print titles.

Jared Marshall
A mechanical engineer who built his own 3D printer and uses it to create useful and fun objects that he will be selling.

Michael Ortiz

Rebecca Percoco 
Owner of The Concho Purl, a small business known for great quality and creative handcrafted products, like the knitted scalemail dragons, bags, jewelry, and other objects she will be selling.

Chet Presley
co-founder and editor-in-chief of the independent comic publishing group, Pulp 21 Comics, largely based out of Houston, TX. Most of his time and sanity is devoured by wrangling the other Pulp 21 creators, facilitating promotions, preparing books for print, and writing, drawing, coloring, and designing various periodicals for Pulp 21 while holding down a day job and the occasional freelance art gig.

Austin Smith
Author, game designer, illustrator, and self-publisher in Alpine who has published more than a dozen books of his comics.

Tommy Tessier
Tommy Tessier has exhibited paintings, surreal comics, and electronic music. He also runs a small label that releases limited books, prints, and albums.

Bill Williams
Bill Williams is a long time comic book creator having worked for DC Comics, IDW and Ape Entertainment to name a few. He recently completed a run as an editor for 1First Comics. For almost twenty years, he self-published under the Lone Star Press logo. His new project, CHARMER, is on Kickstarter the crowdfunding site.

West Texas Collective
West Texas collective is a collaboration of artists including Chris Ruggia, Tommy Tessier, Eva Maria Calderon, Aaron Brooks, C.P. Carter, John Parrish, and Todd Ellrod.

Presidio High School
Presidio High School students will host a silent Auction of Comic-related art. All of the proceeds will be going toward the student-artists themselves.

ComicCon for youngsters at Alpine Public Library

Alpine Public Library has joined forces with the Big Bend Comic Con to create a special Con for kids 12 and under! Both events will happen simultaneously on Saturday, November 5th 1-5pm. The 12 and under set will have a blast at Alpine Public Library, while older “kids” are at the Sul Ross State University library. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Alpine Public Library encourages costumes and will host:

  • Lawn and board games
  • Chima Lego building
  • Comic book reading and making
  • Design your own cape and mask stations

Just so you know, we update our Facebook frequently with content! So please visit our Facebook page for announcements!

We will post our schedule on FRIDAY!! So please stay tuned.

Also, the deadline for vendors, speakers, and all other content will be the 31st. We will print our programs on the 1st so this means anything after this date will not be printed!!!
